WhisperDictate
Press, talk, press again, and your words show up at your cursor.
Dictate a long prompt for an AI instead of typing it.
I mostly use it for prompts to AI tools and for notes. It all runs on your Mac with whisper.cpp, and the recording never leaves it.
The first time, it downloads a speech model from huggingface.co (148 MB). After that it works offline too. There are smaller and larger models in Settings.
- Asks for microphone access the first time
- Tells you what’s wrong if it can’t record
The app has a short tutorial for this. In the settings window, click Try it on the spoon’s page or press Command 5 ⌘ 5 for Tutorials.
